How Much Does A Trip To Spring Training Cost

January 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Airfare, hotel, car, game tickets, food…sounds like it might cost a bundle. How much does it really cost to visit St. Lucie FL this March for Spring Training? Way less than you might think. Using any of the major travel search tools like Expedia and Travelocity, you can find round-trip non-stop airplane tickets for under $200. So you can plan a pretty awesome spring training getaway for under $500. Here’s how.

The trick with the airfare is to plan at least a little in advance.  There are plenty of NY-FLA sub-$200 round-trip deals out there as long as you buy two weeks in advance. Search both Orlando(MCO) and West Palm(PBI) Airports.

You can book JetBlue for $198+ round trip and get in the morning of the 11th be in St. Lucie for open camp workouts until about 2:00, catch the 1:00 Orioles game on the 12th and fly out that night.

That’s one game ticket + hot dog/beer $40
1 nights cool beach hotel, $80
Airfare $200
2 Day rental car, $150

$470 for two days including a game and a camp day. You can add $100 a day for each additional day you stay, the area definitely offers a variety of $20-40/day food options.

Realistically you can catch a game for under $500, stay a weekend for under $750, or stay a week for $1,000.

There is an enormous variety of accomodations-styles including short-term condo rentals, weekly/monthly rates, small-independent and major chain hotels and resorts, so there is something at everyone’s basic-needs level and at everyone’s price point.
